What swimming in intense weather looks like

In the summer of 2016, the Arch Academy Zombies swam 16 miles along the west coast of Molokai.  As they completed the swim from north to south, they set the record for this first-ever swim.  

They had originally planned to do a 24-mile round trip, but the weather got worse, and then a lot worse - the swimmers fought strong currents and 25-knot winds during the last few hours.  Their path through the water at the end of their swim reflects the intense challenges - being pushed sideways, even backwards, as they struggled to make progress before the swim was ultimately called.  The tracking app tells it all...
